The Okotoks Oilers will return to the ice on Friday (Jan. 26).

Teams and fans have been on tenterhooks after the cancellation of seven AJHL games over the weekend and earlier this week.

That includes Tuesday's Oilers game, where they were set to host the Canmore Eagles.

The wave of cancellations came shortly after the news that five AJHL teams, including Okotoks, would be joining the BCHL for the 2024-2025 season.

On Tuesday evening, the Brooks Bandits posted to social media confirming Friday's game against Okotoks was a go, and the Oilers have also confirmed it'll be played as scheduled.

At the moment, it's unclear if the cancelled games or being rescheduled or if future games will be affected, including Saturday's Okotoks vs. Whitecourt game.

It should be noted that all of the cancelled games involved one of the five teams slated to join the BCHL and one of the other 11 AJHL member teams.

Friday's game in Brooks starts at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on The Eagle 100.9 starting with the pregame show at 6:45.
