And just up the road from High River in Okotoks the Carstar Okotoks Bisons skated to a pair of hard-fought wins this weekend to solidify their number one standing in the south division and league.

The Bisons also had a come from behind win this weekend on Friday night in the Hat as they beat the Cubs 2-1. The Herd got goals from Ethan MacIntyre and Jady Shigehiro as Logan Maroni backstopped the team for the victory. The penalty riddled game lead to a few suspensions being handed out.

The Bisons also served notice to the top team in the north division, the Sylvan Lake Wranglers on Saturday.

The hometown crowd at the Murray arena cheered on the Bisons to a 6-1 win with Grady Nicholas getting the win in net.

The Wranglers scored first but then it was all Bisons with six unanswered goals. Easton Dean netted a pair of goals and assists with teammates Scott Brown and Brayden Kapty each notching a goal and two assists.

There were a number of penalties in the third period and at the end of the weekend two Bisons face short suspensions with Adam Kirkpatrick not allowed to play until this Friday Feb. 16 and Ethan MacIntyre won't be able to return to the lineup until Saturday Feb. 17.
