Just in time for a wet, cold long weekend, the province-wide fire ban has been lifted for much of Alberta.

The ban still remains in place for the Fort McMurray and Lac La Biche areas, as those areas won't see as much moisture and still have a high wildfire risk.

The province-wide ban was brought in May 5 after a massive wildfire struck the northern community of Fort Mac, and wildfire conditions continued to be hazardous across the province.

The ban on off-highway vehicles has also been lifted, except for the areas of Fort McMurray and Lac La Biche.
