The Highwood Mustangs ladies rugby squad played in the rain for the first time this season Thursday night, and it suited them as they beat the Oilfields Drillers 22-17.

Coach Bill Young says it was good to get past a tough Drillers squad.

"Absolutely! Because the last time we played the Drillers in seven aside, Oilfields beat us 3-for-3. I thought we could beat them in the 15-person game. But you know, we're decimated. We were making patch-holes in our secondary like you wouldn't believe. We've got about four regulars down in our back lines."

The girls are into playoffs starting next Wednesday (May 25) at the Calgary Rugby Union when they'll take on either Banff or Springbank in zones.

The Mustangs boys were in action as well, Russell Skeet was there and caught some of the action on camera.
