The Culture and Heritage team is back again this season to supply residents with some spooks and stories that have taken place in this town of ours.

The Okotoks Museum and Archives and Okotoks District & Historical Society are bringing back the popular Okotoks Ghost Tours. A walk around the historic downtown filled with tidbits of history as well as a few spooky tales to get your heart racing.

Kathy Coutts, Museum and Archive Specialist as well as Director with the Okotoks District & Historical Society is excited to see how much the tours have grown since their introduction 10 years ago.

"We started in 2011 and back then we only did four tours per night, and so we've expanded to six tours per night because of popularity. We always seem to sell out, which is which has been great. It proves that there's still an appetite for ghost tours."

This year's tours take place on Oct 29th and 30th with 6 tour times and go for about an hour.

Kathy won't reveal the details of the stories but she did let us know some of her favourites to tell.

"I love telling the story of the ghost at the train station. It's probably our most famous ghost story and we also share the story of George the janitor up at the junior high school. We don't have enough time to go up to the junior high, but we still tell that story."

Nagille Walsh-Besso guides a tour in 2019.

Museum Assistant and tour guide Nagille Walsh-Besso also has a favourite.

"There's a ghost story about the Mahon House. Across from the Rotary Performing Arts Center, there is a beautiful brick house and there's a story about a ghost in that house that I like to tell."

They don't limit the ghost tours to just October. You can also find them touring around in the summer months.

"We have, in the last four years, started doing full Moon ghost tours in the summer, coinciding with a full moon in either July or August, and those ones always sell out too. They're always a little warmer than the ones we do in October."

Tickets and more information can be found here. (they sell out fast!)
