The wait is finally over.
Okotoks' first boarded outdoor rink is officially open.
Plans for the boarded rink in the parking lot of John Paul II Collegiate date back to April of 2022, with construction having started in the summer of 2023.
It was officially opened to the public on Saturday.
The rink will see continued use in the warmer months, with plans for it to host lacrosse, in-line skating, and floor hockey, among other sports.
It's one of six rinks that are now open in town, with the full list available on the Town of Okotoks' website.
