The High River Flyers are now 0-for-2 in requests to High River town council.

The Heritage Junior B Hockey League team made a request for the Town to waive fees for ice time estimated at about $24,618.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass said the taxpayers of the town already subsidize the rec centre to the tune of about $1.5 million.

Councillor Jenny Jones said it would open the Town up to similar requests from other user groups.

Council unanimously voted to deny the request.

The Flyers had already approached council in the past for financial aid through a policy change which would allow beer advertising at the rink.

That too had been denied.

The Flyers are celebrating 100 years of hockey in High River this season.
