The Okotoks Bisons are one skate stride closer to winning the U21 Alberta Hockey Provincials.

They won their opening game against last year's gold medal champs, the Fort St John Huskies 5-4 last night at the Centennial arena.

The teams were tied up at three going into the 3rd period when Bisons pulled away.  All five goals came from different Bisons with Grady Nicholas backstopping the team for the win.

In the other two games Wednesday, it was the CBHA Rangers beating the Sherwood Park Knights 3-2 while the Wainwright Bisons defeated the Sylvan Lake Wranglers 2-1.

The Bisons play again tonight at 8 p.m. versus a familiar Heritage B League foe, the Sylvan Lake Wranglers.

The action starts at 12:00 p.m. today as the Rangers take on Wainwright and then Fort St John takes on Sherwood Park at 3:30 p.m. before the premier match-up at 8.

All games are at the Centennial arena.
