The Okotoks spray park is well on it's way to becoming new and improved.

Construction crews have already done all the grade work for the new spray park pads as well as poured the concrete and added new underground lines that will run to the new features.

Community services director Susan Laurin says next on the agenda is more line work and the addition of a bathroom building.

"What's next for the project is hooking up all those lines, connecting to them to the existing water, storm water, and sanitary lines, as well as hooking up the electrical. And then later this month we should be having the building and the building for the washrooms brought in."

The park will include 13 new features and Laurin says crews will work as long as the weather cooperates.

"We are going to be doing as much work as we can until the weather doesn't permit us to go any further and then the contractors will come back in the spring. They will come and install the equipment and commission the equipment and we will be up and running for the beginning of June."

Construction work does not affect parking at the Rec Centre or any other public spaces around it as phase two of the expansion was always planned for the area.
