10 Year Celebration!

It has been 10 years since the Okotoks Recreation Centre was expanded and the doors opened at Pason Centennial Arena.

That calls for a celebration.

About 8 million people have come through the doors of the Okotoks Recreation Centre in the past 10 years. Many of those footsteps are regulars at this wonderful facility. Today a big thanks goes out to all those visitors. The celebration included a few words from Mayor Bill Robertson at the puck drop for the Bisons game, and at the ceremony following. The very busy mayor, came straight to the Rec Centre from the rooftop at Sobeys where he had spent the weekend with Eagle's own Logan Coutts raising money for The United Way.

Mr. Hockey and Eagle 100.9 news man, Gino DePaoli emceed the ceremony where two lucky visitors won big prizes. One prize a $1000 worth of goodies from Sobeys and the opportunity to learn from Chef Darren Nixon at his monthly cooking class, and a $1500 travel voucher from Pace Setter Travel, went to the other lucky winner.

Every one in attendance enjoyed a piece of cake and lots of free family activities such as gym time, skating, swimming, bouncy castles and more.

The festivities continue at Pason Centennial for the Okotoks Oilers puck drop and hockey game.

All in all another great day in Okotoks!
