The goal we to identify some of the barriers faced by municipal governments, non-profits, and business owners, which may be able to be alleviated by the provincial government.

Those in attendance included representatives from the Town of Okotoks, Town of Black Diamond, Town of Turner Valley, and Foothills County.

"What it really comes down to is the administrative burden that sometimes falls on our municipalities, and how as a provincial government we can do that better to make sure we're not making them go through unnecessary steps."

He says many specific issues were identified, including water licensing in Okotoks, water testing in Black Diamond, and the county's issues Alberta Environment and Parks.

According to Sigurdson, conversations such as this are commonplace for the minister as part of an ongoing effort.

"That's what he's doing every single day, just trying to identify and of those inch points and making sure we're doing everything we can to clear the path and make things more streamlined as a government se we're not seeing those unnecessary costs that have no benefit to our taxpayers of municipalities within out province."
