Hot summer days call for keeping cool in the Sheep River.

With the higher temperatures the Foothills area is experiencing families and locals of all ages can be found down by the river.

Local girl, Haylee Sweet-Schmit, says she goes down to the river to catch fish with her family.

"I like swimming and catching minnows, I caught one but I let it go."

Okotoks residents, Danielle Eaton and Melissa Stojkobic, say their group likes to do a number of different things on hot days like this.

"We like to bring the kids down to the river with a bucket of toys, catch some minnows, drink some coffee and listen to some tunes."

Even families from outside of town are attracted to the fresh, cool water the town of Okotoks has to offer.

Marie Lewin of De Winton says she comes to town to enjoy these warm temperatures.

"I am enjoying this beautiful day and this wonderful river with my two grandsons from High River, we were thinking of going to Calaway Park but I think it would be too hot today so we came here instead."

The river can be spotted with tons of people from all over the Foothills soaking up the sun, rafting down the river, having water fights, and the crowd favorite; catching and releasing the minnows.
