Today marks the start of Alberta Seniors Week, and Okotoks seniors are invited to the Seniors Week Celebration Tea, hosted by the Okotoks Rec Centre this Friday.

The province-wide celebration is in it's 32nd year, and is intended to recognize seniors who helped build and shape Alberta, and the daily contributions they make to our communities.

Albertans 65 and over will receive free admittance to the province's 20 historic sites, museums and archives in recognition of this special week.

"Seniors have built this province and continue to contribute to the vibrancy of our communities by offering knowledge, skills and experience that benefit Alberta."

Irfan Sabir, Minister of Community and Social Services and Acting Minister of Seniors and Housing for the Province of Alberta, said in a news release.

The Celebration Tea will take place on Friday, June 8th from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, and seniors are invited to enjoy a complimentary light lunch, refreshments, entertainment and door prizes.
