High River RCMP say two individuals have been arrested and face a list of charges after being caught with a stolen vehicle.

According to police, around 2:00 p.m. on May 4, officers responded to a complaint of theft of fuel at a rural location in Foothills County.

The suspect's vehicle, which had been stolen from Calgary, fled from police.

RCMP officers from High River, Okotoks, Turner Valley, and Nanton assisted and tracked down the vehicle, resulting in two suspects being arrested without incident.

Police say that Clayton Joseph Whaling, 38, of High River has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, two counts of failure to comply with recognizance, and possession of break and enter instruments.

Whaling has been released on a recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Okotoks Provincial Court on May 10.

Charges are pending against the second suspect.
