A new volunteer charity organization is looking to set up in Okotoks.

Kiwanis International has 600,000 members in 80 nations across the world, including a district in Alberta.

Roy Bird Kiwanis Representative says the organization is looking for like minded community members who want to help children.

"Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child one community at a time. Kiwanis' outlook is kids, and what we want to do is get together a number of people who are interested in helping ids in a fun sort of environment."

Kiwanis is looking for 15 individuals to join their organization in Okotoks, Bird shares the club is a very rewarding experience.

"Kiwanis takes up as much time as you've got to give or want to give, you get out of it what put into it like any other thing in this life. I've been a member for 35 years and I'm in it for the warm and fuzzies that I get from the various service projects that I get involved with. I said that when I joined I'd be a member as long as it remained fun, and it hasn't stopped being fun yet."

Kiwanis has also already secured 12 spots for underprivileged kids from the Okotoks area to attend Camp Kiwanis near Bragg Creek for free this summer.
