Tax season can be a stressful and an inconvenience in anyone's busy lives but the Town of Okotoks is willing to help you file your income tax.

The Town is offering a Community Volunteer Income Tax Program through the Okotoks Family Resource Centre.

Coordinator for the program Courtney Vines says it can take the pressure off of filing for the 2016 fiscal year.

"They are just regular people in the community that want to help out," she says. "Volunteers can help prepare your income tax and benefit return if you have a modest income and a simple income tax return."

The Town have started their screening and interview process for the volunteers.

Vines says there is some requirements to be eligible to have your taxes filed by someone through the program.

"A single person needs to make up to or less than $30,000 a couple $40,000 and one adult with one child or more is $35,000."

Like filing taxes on your own, Vines says bring everything in that could be a tax write-off and your T4 slip.

"They just need to bring all of their tax receipts along with them, with their 2015 CRA notice of assessment and any kind of receipts that they're going to need to hand in and we can get them on their way."
