The Western Canadian Baseball League's Board of Governors met on Wednesday to decide whether or not to hold a 2020 season.

A release from Dawgs Academy Head Coach Jeff Duda this evening confirmed their decision to cancel it.

Despite a concerted effort to arrange a  feasible plan for a 2020 season, which included talks of a shortened season starting in late June or early July, ever-increasing health regulations surrounding gatherings and regional travel left the board with no other options.

The release expressed the Dawg's understanding of the situation.

"Regrettably, we will have to wait until the 2021 season to defend our WCBL Championship."

It was originally scheduled to start in Edmonton on May 29th.
