The Town of Okotoks has received an award for its financial reporting.

They've been given the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

The award is for their 2021 Annual Report, and it's their third consecutive annual report to receive the honour.

It recognizes that the Town has gone beyond the minimal requirement for accounting principles while also prioritizing transparency.

The town's CFO Ralph Ettenauer was quoted in a release:

"The Annual Report is one of the many ways the Town can educate the community on the organization's financial operations, and we are proud to provide transparent financial reporting that exceeds national standards to the residents of Okotoks... We continue to commit to providing accountable leadership in local governance and encourage the use of the Annual Report as a main source of information about the Town’s strategic and financial position."

Last year, 80 Canadian municipalities received the award, with 18 of them going to Alberta municipalities.

The town's financial statement can be seen in its Annual Report, which can be seen on the town's website.
