The Town is giving residents a heads up about a recent coyote sighting.

The animal was spotted along the Mountainview pathway near the Mountainview Gate sidewalk.

Coyotes are common in the Foothills and while their diet mainly consists of rodents and rabbits they may attack pets.

With that being said, pet owners are advised to keep their dogs on a leash.

Coyote sightings do not need to be reported, however, close encounters or coyote aggression should be reported to the local Fish and Wildlife office.

Warning signs have been posted in the area.

Wild animals should not be fed or approached.
