Shootouts have not been kind to Team Canada's hockey team at the Youth Winter Olympics in South Korea.

Canada, and Okotoks Bow Mark Oilers goalie Carter Esler, lost 6-5 to the U.S. in a shootout yesterday in their final round robin game.

That dropped them to the bronze medal game where the shootout did them in again, losing 5-4 to Finland finishing the tournament out of the medals.

They had beaten Finland 4-1 earlier in the tourney.

The games were played with only three 15-minute periods with a 3-on-3 format.
