Emergency crews responded to a serious collision near Diamond Valley last night (Feb. 29).

According to Diamond Valley Fire Rescue, the collision occurred between the former Turner Valley and Black Diamond communities just after 8 p.m.

It was a two-vehicle head-on collision, leaving the two occupants of one vehicle trapped inside.

The driver of the smaller vehicle was transported to hospital in critical condition with the passenger, a child, also taken to hospital in serious condition.

The other vehicle's driver was also transported with minor injuries.

According to a Facebook post from Diamond Valley Fire Rescue, STARS Air Ambulance was unable to respond due to weather conditions.

Collision analysts attended the scene, and the highway remained closed until just after 3:30 a.m.
