The Highwood Mustangs varsity girls basketball squad didn't take the gold medal, but settled for the consolation final at the Sandie Bexson Memorial Basketball Tournament over the weekend in High River.

The girls lost their opener 70-45 to Chinook High School out of Lethbridge on Friday, but won their next two, beating Edmonton's Louis St. Laurent 44-35, and the Edwin Parr Pacers out of Athabasca 68-65 in triple overtime in the consolation final.

Anne Aginaldo led the way for the Mustangs with 28 points in that game.

In the end it was the McCoy Colts out of Medicine Hat winning the tournament title with a 72-48 win over the Chestermere Lakers on Saturday night.
