The Western Hockey League has received government approval to play a shortened season in Alberta.

The five teams that are based here in the province, the Calgary Hitmen, the Red Deer Rebels, Edmonton Oil Kings, Lethbridge Hurricanes, and Medicine Hat Tigers, will play a 24-game season agaainst each other.

Play starts February 26.

Also last week the Calgary Flames announced their top farm team, the Stockton Heat, will play in Calgary this season because of COVID restrictions in California.
