The Okotoks Oilers played their first official game in the BCHL.

The Oilers are part of a five-team group that joined the BCHL from the AJHL.

And the green and gold faced off against the Bulldogs in Blackfalds on Friday night but were unable to come away with the two points.

The Bulldogs scored first and lead 2-0 after the first period, 3-1 after the second and ended up skating to a tight 4-3 final over the Oilers.

Oiler Kade Duell scored the Oilers first ever goal in the BCHL on a breakaway with his second period goal.

The Oilers now lace up for a game Tuesday afternoon at noon in Brooks. It's an early matinee game designed to allow local school students to attend.

The game was broadcast on The Eagle 100.9 and streamed on Okotoks Online as will the remainder of the Oilers away games with tomorrow's game in Brooks being the exception.
