The Okotoks Oilers look to get off on the right foot as they begin a trip up Highway 63 starting Saturday night in Fort McMurray against an Oil Barons team who have struggled this AJHL season stuck in the North Division basement.

Okotoks (25-20--2) comes into the weekend eight points up on 4th place Canmore in the South Division against a Barons team who have only registered seven wins this season.

Despite the records on paper, Head Coach James Poole says the team will need to be sharp against the MOB.

"We haven't the right to take anyone for granted," he says. "We've shown that in games against the Canucks, Mustangs and Drayton Valley. It's about time we learn our lesson and make sure we come out and play the way we need to play for 60 minutes against Fort McMurray."

The Oilers fell 5-4 last year at the Casman Centre and Poole says the long bus ride up Highway 63 will be hard on the team but expects to come away with two points.

"We gotta make sure we're disciplined going into a rink that typically sometimes the officiating can go a little wonky sometimes in getting some homer calls but our discipline has to be good and we're going to have to make sure that we stay focused for an entire game play a 60 minute effort which sometimes can be tough based on travel going up there."

Poole hopes the consistency he's been calling on his team for the past few games will start to come this weekend.

"It's game that we expect to win but the way we play we struggle a bit offensively burying some chances so games are usually still up for grabs going into the 3rd period."

Puck drop in Fort McMurray goes at 8 p.m. followed by an afternoon game in Bonnyville Sunday at 2 p.m.
