An Okotoks Photographer will have to make some space on the wall for a new award.

Bromley Barron of "Bare By Bromley" was recently awarded the award for "Best in Class Award for Figure Study at the Professional Photographers of Canada Alberta Region 2020 Annual Competition" Despite the long title the award is quite simple, it goes to the artist who demonstrated the best image in the class, so best in class for the professional photographers of Canada, Alberta Regions.

Barron says it was quite an honour to win the award especially having recently moved to Okotoks.

"I absolutely love it. It means so much to me because I'm building my business and I'm new to Okotoks and to have them vote best in class for figure study is absolutely amazing."

Barrons' photo was one of over 160 photos that were submitted to the competition, Barron says it was technically judged by her peers but not entirely.

"It is kind of a jury of my peers, but within the professional photographers of Canada, there are different levels of members. So you first start out as an observer member, which means that you are new to the organization and you haven't been accredited in anything. To become accredited you need to submit 10 different images per category. And there's like 80 different categories that you can be accredited in and then you either get accepted or not and you can go back and forth for years trying to get accepted into different categories."

Barron has been accredited in Boudoir and Nightsky Photography.
