Looking to get more involved with people in town... People, who are into the same thing as you?
With distancing and restrictions still halting the gathering physically. There are still ways to get together in different ways virtually!

Like Fantasy Sports!!

Playing fantasy sports online has become a popular way to get more involved with a sport of your choosing.
Fantasy Sports are basically an online prediction game where you put together a virtual team of real sports players. You earn points based on real-life statistics that are. The better your player performs in real life, the higher your fantasy points!

The Okotoks Public Library is holding a virtual draft this Wednesday (Jan 20th) open for anyone interested in joining a local league!

"Experience all the ups and downs of the very unique 56 game 2021 National Hockey League season," says Jeff Blumer, Juvenile services coordinator for the library

The draft kicks off at 5 pm over ZOOM with standings getting updated each week. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the season.

Usually, Blumer would hold everything in a physical location but as with most things this year it's changed.

"Normally when the library was open I'd have a big whiteboard and all the people can come in and check the standings and the stats but it's a little different this year."

Registrations is all online and FREE Find details here.

Blumers explains this is a great way to connect with those in your community you may not have interacted with before and a good way to get involved with a new hobby.

Even a way to teach something to your kids.

"I used to work with a public school and did this with the kids every year and they absolutely loved it"

There are only 8 spots available so 'ya better hurry!
