If you haven't been out to the Highwood Golf & Country Club lately, you may not have noticed they're back to 27 holes.

At least sort of.

After redeveloping the Spitzee nine to the "Spitzee Six" following the 2013 flood, course managers decided to re-jig it again to offer a nine hole experience.

Manager Lane Neilson says it's actually been a bit of a boon for the club.

"Getting back to nine holes and offering it at a decent price point certainly is getting a lot of people who may have found golf a little expensive for their pocketbook that are now participating. Families, grandparents, young kids. Yeah, the response has been really good actually."

Neilson, says Spitzee has long been a favourite among the members.

"It's really, it's the serenity of it out there. It's so peaceful, you're away from everything. The river's running through, the trees. It's a beautiful setting."

Neilson says it's not exactly like it was pre-flood, but says they may look to expand it in the future to be a full length nine again, but says for now it's proving to be popular for kids, seniors, beginners and families.
