The Okotoks Optimist club is looking ahead to a great 2021! And kicking off the year by looking for a little help from their friends and the chance to help clear out that garage of yours!

All in the form of a bottle drive!

Helping the community is what the Optimists are all about.
President of the club Amy Giroux explains by helping the club you are putting it back into the community

"We continue to provide assistance to other local charities and nonprofits that benefit our community of Okotoks. As well as like Optimist things! So like scholarship programs, fundraising events, leadership possibilities and just assistance for local youth."

The Okotoks Optimist Club is joining over 2,500 other Optimist clubs across the world, including one in High River and two in Calgary. Supporting the likes of the Masked Mamas, The Okotoks Youth Center as well as numerous local initiatives to support those in the community.

Supporting the bottle drive is easy added Giroux.

"So there's a few ways, you can go down to the Okotoks Bottle Depot and make a donation there by just saying I'd like to donate my amount to the Okotoks Optimist Club and the clerk there will help you out. Or you can contact us on Facebook and will organize one of our volunteers to go and pick up the bottles or cans but you can leave it in your driveway."

Or you can email the club at okotoksoptimist@gmail.com to arrange a pickup.
