School bus routes won't be running in the Foothills tomorrow (Jan. 12).

The Foothills School Division and Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools both announced the cancellations on Thursday afternoon.

Both cited the extreme cold and hazardous conditions.

Schools will remain open, however.

There is an exception for the Palliser School Division as they have cancelled both school buses and school for the day.  The same goes for Strathcona Tweedsmuir school.

The Livingstone Range School Division has also cancelled all buses and schools will also be closed. That affects Nanton, Granum, Stavely and Claresholm.

The temperature is forecasted to remain below -30 degrees on Friday, with an expected wind chill near -45 in the morning.

By Monday, temperatures will have risen to around -10.
