The Okotoks Dawgs dropped a close 3-2 decision to the Swift Current Indians Tuesday night at Seaman Stadium as they opened a six game home stand.

It took the Dawgs a while to get going in this one as they waited until the eighth inning to bring the bats to life, led by first baseman Kellen Maruffo who was 2-for-2 on the night with a couple of RBI's.

He says the Dawgs slow start cost them.

"We got it late. We had the fire late. You know people were getting up. You know, from the start we could kind of see it around, hear it. There wasn't really a lot of intention to win it or anything like that. I feel like we all kind of came out just expecting to roll through them."

Brendan Hendriks continued his streak of getting on base as he went 1-for-4 and was a threat every time he stepped up to the plate.

Chris Horvath started on the mound for Dawgs and pitched three innings, giving up one run on five hits while walking one and striking out four.

Austin Guzzon replaced Horvath, but did not stay out long, as he pitched just 1.2 innings, giving up one run on one hit, walking two batters and striking out one.

Brandon Zywicki was up next as he pitched 2.1 innings giving up one run on four hits.

The right-handed pitcher didn't walk any batters and was able to strike-out a pair.

Dan Grazzini was the next in line pitching one inning, and not giving up any hits or runs while walking one and striking out three.

Holden Lyons finished off the game, pitching one inning while giving up two hits, no runs, no walks while striking out one.

However Horvath did get saddled with the loss.

The Dawgs and Indians wrap up their two game series Wednesday night starting at 7:05 at Seaman Stadium.
