The Okotoks Dawgs dropped their second straight game, this time 2-0 to the Medicine Hat Mavericks Wednesday night at Seaman Stadium.

The Dawgs faced some stiff pitching, and just couldn't push runners home, leaving seven stranded on base.

The got some good pitching though as Garrett Ciuk got the start.

He pitched 5.2 Innings giving up just a single run, finishing with an ERA of 1.05, but gets tagged withe loss.

Relievers Anthony Balderas, Ian Scott and Christian Parsons all played no more than 1.1 innings.

Parsons struck out two Bulls in the top of the ninth while allowing no hits in his inning of work.

Dawgs slugger, and Okotoks native, Peter Hutzal says it was a tough night at the plate.

"The ball wasn't falling where we needed it to fall. They were throwing well. Throwing the ball around the strike zone, not really leaving anything down the middle, so it was tough to hit."

The Dawgs take Thursday off before getting back to work Friday when the Lethbridge Bulls come to town.

They'll get another shot at Medicine Hat Saturday night, and then wrap up their weekend Sunday afternoon against the Brooks Bombers.
