The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning Canadians of mysterious beans that may be showing up in your mail.

Wendy Asbil, National Manager with the Invasive Alien Species and Domestic Plant Health Programs Section says above all do not plant these seeds.

"As the CFIA looks into the matter, we want to reiterate that the most important action for Canadians to take is to not plant seeds they did not order, Canadians are also being asked to not put these seeds in the trash or compost where they could sprout, these unauthorized seeds could be from invasive plants or could carry invasive pests which could be harmful if introduced to Canada."

Asbil says they are asking Albertans to report any seeds they receive that were not ordered.

"Anyone who received seed packages they did not order is asked to contact their local CFIA office with information on the sender, the location of origin and how the package was identified for border control."

Asbil says if someone has already planted the seeds they should remove them.

"If anyone has already planted the seeds they are asked to remove them and place them into the package, if it is available, and contact the CFIA."
