The new Alberta Parks website launched on Monday at 9 a.m. with many people already signed up with their new accounts ready to go.

Unfortunately, it appears there were a few slowdowns and hiccups with some people reporting online that it seems it wasn't much better than the last website with some waiting in the queue too long and then having to re-register their campsite.

However, there were 22,205 individual camper nights booked.  Parks Canada processed 6,707 reservations within the first six hours which is way up from last year.

To compare to last year from January 1st to February 26th they processed 9,121 reservations.

Alberta Parks has some tips and tricks for using the new website at shop.albertaparks.ca and you can call their toll-free line at 1-877-537-2757 which is now Monday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Group camping reservations opened up Wednesday February 28 at 9:00 a.m.
