The Okotoks Bisons have finally made it to the final gold medal match.

And it's going to be a rematch of Saturday afternoon's dramatic game.

The Wainwright Bisons beat the Okotoks Bisons 5-4 in overtime yesterday in their final game of the Alberta Hockey U21 Provincial Championships tournament before the medal round.

Adrien Belanger got Okotoks started with the game's first goal yesterday and the team was up 3-0 thanks to goals from Easton Dean and Dryden Harding.  But Wainwright started clawing their way back into the game with a power play goal within the final minute of the second period for a 3-1 score heading into the third period.

Wainwright scored early in the third to make it 3-2 before Okotoks replied with a goal from Alaister Standen to make it 4-2.  But then Wainwright scored a short-handed goal with just over 3 and a half minutes to go making it 4-3.  Then Okotoks took a penalty and Wainwright scored the equalizer with four seconds left in the game to send it to OT.

Wainwright scored the game winning goal at the 15:30 mark for the win and to send them into the gold medal final.  Grady Nicholas stopped 30 of the 35 shots he faced for Okotoks.

So, the Okotoks Bisons and Wainwright Bisons play against one another this Easter Sunday at 2:00 p.m. for the gold medal.

Both teams finished the round-robin tournament with 3-1 records.

The Okotoks Bisons won bronze last year and have had their sights set on this chance all season long.

The other two games played yesterday saw the Sherwood Park Knights beat the Sylvan Lake Wranglers 6-4 and the Fort St John Huskies beat the CBHA Rangers 3-2 for their only win of the provincials.

The bronze medal game pits the Sherwood Park Knights against the CBHA Rangers at 10:30 a.m. today.

All games are played at the Centennial arena in Okotoks.
