Albertans head to the polls today as the provincial election has finally arrived.

It's been less than a month since Premier Rachel Notley dropped the writ on Mar. 19.

Residents will need to cast their ballots at the designated polling stations in their assigned riding.

In Okotoks, votes can be placed at the Foothills Centennial Centre and Okotoks Curling rink from 9 a.m.- 8 p.m.

Voters need to remember to bring a piece of authorized I.D. with them and proof of their current physical address.

According to Elections Alberta, about 696,000 people took advantage of advanced voting last week, compared to 235,000 that took advantage of it during the last provincial election in 2015.
