Residents are invited by the Town of Okotoks to participate in the spring clean-up of community parks.

Christa Michailuck, Parks Manager for the Town, says the town can help organize larger groups if it is needed.

"We always encourage citizens to come out and help keep our parks clean and litter free and we can help organize or coordinate a larger volunteer group. It can be citizens, or neighbours, or an organized group, such as a Scout's group," she said.

Michialuck says they can provide supplies and pick up the garbage, and can even let a group know how much they picked.

"We can provide them with some of the volunteer yellow garbage bags. We try not to put people on busy roadways. we can arrange to pick up the garbage later, we can even weigh the bags and let them know how much they collected. This time of year as we lose our snow, it reveals the litter that's accumulated over the winter, it's a great time to get out," she said.

The town's river valley clean up will also be taking place on Saturday, May 4th.
