The Foothills Country Hospice had guests dressed in their finest western duds for their Wranglers and Rhinestones Gala last weekend.

The gala took over the Foothills Centennial Centre and is the hospice's largest fundraiser of the year.

Dawn Elliott, executive director, says the funds raised from the evening will go a long way for the hospice.

"Our preliminary numbers show that we grossed $210,000. We haven't subtracted all of the expenses because we haven't got all of the billing in just yet but we're planning on using the money to help fund our support services here at the hospice."

Funds came from ticket sales and sponsorships, games during the evening, and a live and silent auction.

Elliott says the generosity from the town is appreciated.

"We had a great turn out, we had a ton of support from the community and surrounding areas, and we are eternally grateful to everybody for their support."

She adds next the hospice is focusing on recovering from the excitement and success of the gala.
