Okotoks gets to show off its sporting facilities once again as another tournament is hosted in town.

This time around, it's the 2019 Baseball Canada Women's Invitational Championships, to be played over the next several days at Tourmaline Field.

Business Engagement Coordinator with the town Cheryl Olson says these events directly connect visiting teams and families to local business.

"As these teams are staying in the town, filling up our hotels and visiting our businesses, of course that's an economic impact directly to our businesses. We try to connect our businesses to the events so that they can leverage off of the participants, the visitors, that sort of thing."

Okotoks is no stranger to these kinds of events, with baseball, hockey, sledge hockey, and lacrosse events having been held here in recent months. Olson says they do a great job of showcasing the town as a whole, not just its sports facilities.

'I think it's an excellent opportunity to showcase our town and show what Okotoks has to offer in terms of our business, our arts and culture, things like that. I think this is an excellent opportunity, to host these events."

The championship has games scheduled daily until it's set to wrap up on Sunday.
