The Town of Okotoks and its residents are gearing up to enjoy festivities at the Annual Light Up Okotoks event tonight.

Mark Doherty, Community Events Coordinator with the Town of Okotoks, says some road closures will be in effect for the duration of the event.

"Basically, the entire downtown, that's Elizabeth, McRae and North Railway, that closes at 4 p.m., and it will stay closed until we get everybody out of the event, so about ten'o'clock at night," he said

Elizabeth Street, McRae Street, and North Railway Street to Lineham Avenue will be closed starting at 4 p.m. today.

Residents are advised to obey signage for the closures and be aware of community patrons who will be walking the streets.

An Incident Command Centre will be located on Veterans Way beside the Municipal Centre to assist with lost children and/or separated family members, first aid requirements, lost and found and general information inquiries.
