The Town of Okotoks is saying goodbye to CAO Rick Quail as of Thursday at noon.

Quail has been with the Town for 27 years, stating that he has so many fond moments and is grateful for the wonderful people he has gotten to work with, both on council and co-workers.

He states that in his time there has been tremendous accomplishments and achievements made in terms of what has been built.

"It is a very strong community, I believe a very well planned community with citizens that really care about the community."

Adding, he believes the Town is fortunate to have residents who care so much about the community they live in.

One of Quail's last acts as CAO before officially retiring, was signing over 40 acres of land owned by the Town to the Foothills School Division for the K to 9 school.

He believes this parcel of land is the next leg to the journey.

"It is nice to have long range planning in place so that collectively as a community we can collaborate as the needs arise," Quails says.

He compares this parcel of land to the one bought more than 50 years ago that Wylie Athletic Park currently sits on.

Quail Adds, the athletic park and its facilities have been used by residents for multiple reasons like recreation, community events along with culture and heritage, since it was built.

Quail plans on heading out to do some fly fishing and enjoy his retirement.

"I am hoping to catch a few fish, that is my next step"

The Town wishes Quail all the best on his future endeavours.
