Okotoks Town Council is looking forward to another great year for 2016.

The town introduced many new programs and initiatives in 2015.

According to Councillor Ed Sands the Finalization Community Visioning Exercise is one that was important to him.

"The Finite Growth Model was a vision for a long time and it was important to me that the community was on board with the growth and council was able to translate that into a vision going forward," Sands says.

Sands says that one of the biggest lessons he learned from 2015 actually came from the provincial government.

"If you don't listen to the people and make arrogant looking decisions, you will be punted out on your ear."

With the On It transit program coming to Okotoks among other initiatives, the new year looks to have a lot in store.

Sands hopes that 2016 holds the annexation process being finished and moving forward with the proposed pipeline.

"We need to get funding on the Calgary pipe line figured out and once that is done, we can deal with interim water solutions and get the community shaking again."
