It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Okotoks.

Preparation started a bit early this year with the town already decorating the Christmas tree in Old Towne Okotoks.

But Okotoks community events specialist Mark Doherty says with the weather so accommodating they had to take advantage of it.

"Well typically we don't  put those Christmas decorations up until after Remembrance Day but when you have a choice of a day that's +16 or -16 I'm going to take the +16. So that's why were a little bit early."

All the decorating has been complete for now. This year Light Up Okotoks will feature a s'mores station sponsored by ATCO and a new interactive lighting display for all ages at the municipal centre provided by the company that illuminates the Calgary tower.

Doherty says with a  number of new additions and surprises this years Light Up should take the cake.

"There's a lot of new activities going to be on display for this year. So we always say that the previous one was always are best but I'm going to say it that this year is going to be the best yet for sure."

All decorating has been finished in the downtown area for the November 18th event.
