You couldn't ask for a better way to enjoy swimming and entertainment under one roof.

The Okotoks Aquatics Centre is hosting Teen Night on Friday, and it will be a beach party-like atmosphere.

Senior Lifeguard at the Okotoks Rec Centre, Tanya Jones says it's a great way for teens to stay active, and enjoy watching a movie, while swimming and relaxing at the pool.

"The kids are welcome to stay in and float on the tubes, float on the mat or come over to the big side of the pool, and play with the amenities that they always play with, our diving board and our rope."

The teen night movie will be Disney's Lilo and Stitch, Jones says adding a movie to the event gives the swimmers incentive to stick around longer at the pool.

"We want them here," she says. "We keep them entertained with different things, throughout the year we try to do one event a month as well, so we like to do something special, we do one in July, and then we're doing a boat building event in August."

Teen night is open to anyone aged 12 to 17. All you need to do is sign in at the Rec Centre office, and Jones says the rest of the fun will be taken care of by the pool staff.

"Come on into the pool, the movie will start at about 8:30, we're open in the pool until 11 o'clock," she says. "So the movie will run from 8:30 p.m. to about 9:45 p.m. so there's enough time to hit the hot tub afterwards with friends, or go on the diving board.
