There won't be a by-election to fill a vacancy on the Foothills School Board.

Superintendent Chris Fuzessy says they wanted to see whether the Ward, which covers High River, wanted to see it represented by someone who lived there.

The former trustee, Jennifer Kristiansen, resigned last month when she moved to Okotoks.

"The board made a decision at the prior meeting to see if there was community feedback around a desire from residents of Ward 5 to have a by-election and have representation at school councils and committees from someone living in Ward 5, because they (the board) had reorganized committee representation as well as school council representation amongst trustees (Larry) Albrecht and trustee (Bill) Young," Fuzessy says. "So it was brought back at this meeting and feedback had not been received in terms of wanting a by-election and so the board decided to continue with the current plan until the next election cycle which is, I believe October of next year."

Board chair Larry Albrecht will continue working with Highwood High School, Senator Riley and Joe Clark Schools and trustee Bill Young will work with Spitzee School

The remaining five trustees have taken over the vacant committee roles.
