A graduate from Foothills Composite High School has debuted her latest novel.

Cheyanne Murray's book "The Purest Blood" is aimed at teens and young adults and follows the adventures of a thief and a spy.

Murray says growing up in Okotoks contributed to a large element in her novel.

"My one main character has a major love of the forest and that obviously came from living in this area and being so close to the forest."

Her love of writing began when she was in Grade 9 and has since blossomed into writing novels inspired by history and different cultures.

Murray says the photojournalism program she took at SAIT came in handy when the time came to create the cover.

"My cover was made by me and my photography skills made that a lot easier because I actually made the mask on the cover out of leather then I took a picture of it and photo-altered it into the cover."

Work has already started on Murray's next novel, which she says takes place in a Viking and Celtic era.

The Purest Blood can be purchased at Dit N' Dat in Okotoks, Tumbleweed Cafe in Nanton, or online from Amazon.
