"Two motor vehicle accidents, we had a report of some kids trying to light some grass on fire in the Cimarron area," he says. "Nine medical responses, six alarm system activations, we went to a fire pit that was left unattended, we rescued a deer that was hung up in a fence and we also had a dryer fire in the Lineham Avenue area."

The dryer fire could have easily have been avoided says Thevenot.

"The cause of that fire was, the individual had washed some rags that they used lint seed oil and some other chemicals they washed in the washing machine and then put them in the dryer instead of just laying them out and air drying them."

Thevenot adds that the fire department is pushing their home inspection programs that are available to any Okotoks resident at anytime for free and also with school just around the corner, Fire Services wants to remind all parents of a bi-weekly event that's open to the public.

"People want information the can call down to the station, our car seat clinics are still every second Wednesday of every month, we want to make sure the little ones are being secured properly and we want to be educating parents, friends and care workers at the same time."
