It's the final count down for those looking to mail Christmas presents or cards via Canada Post.

Items being sent within Canada need to mailed by Dec.11, or Dec. 21 for those who are willing to pay for priority service.

Alice Lafferty, general manager of parcels and customer experience at Canada Post, says presents can be wrapped but should be placed inside plain packaging.

"If you're wrapping and you've been creative putting it together just make sure it's in really clean packaging. We have over one million parcels we're delivering everyday, sometimes up to 1.5 million, so you want to make sure it's clean, well packaged, and you've got the right postal code on it."

Lafferty says Canada Post prepares for the holiday season almost a year in advance.

"We've doubled our network capacity, we have one thousand tractor trailers picking up from customers everyday and we're really committed," she explains. "We started planning in January to get ready for this holiday season so we encourage everyone to shop as much as they can early to make sure everything's there in time for the holidays."

Canada Post will be making deliveries until Dec. 23.
