Farmers here in the Foothills will be pretty busy over the next couple of weeks looking to get their hay crops off.

M.D. of Foothills Agriculture Fieldman Jeff Porter says Stampede time is usually the signal for farmers to start cutting.

However Porter says it may not be a good year.

"The cool and dry Spring we had, we're definitely going to see reduced yields on our hay crops. We'll probably have producers definitely looking for feed."

He says their best bet will likely be Central and Northern Alberta where they've had a lot more moisture and the yields will be higher.
