The 100 Women Who Care Foothills chapter is at it again helping out a local charity.

At their meeting last week the group voted on who would get their next generous donation.

Founder Karen Love says there's always plenty of worthy candidates.

"We had around eight nominations for various charities and in the three that got pulled out at random was the Okotoks Food Bank, Food For Thought and the Oilfields Food Bank and the ladies that attended our meeting decided to put their donation towards Food For Thought."

100 Women's last donation was their highest yet since the group started last year handing out $3900 to Lit For Life earlier in 2016.

Love says they're hoping to have enough members to be 100 Women Who Care at some point but says the 40 dedicated women they have now have been phenomenal in handing money out of their own pockets.

"We had a few new members that came along, right now it's quite quiet because it's summertime and people are enjoying the weather but we did have some new members sign-up so we're not really sure how much we're going to raise. The last time we had $4000 so I'm looking for around that again which would be 40 members donating."

With the group's decision to choose Food For Thought in High River, Love says it's the perfect time to donate to them with school starting up again next month.

"What tipped it towards them was their philosophy around feeding kids in school. We know how important it is for kids to have a healthy meal but we know a lot of families struggle to give their kids healthy lunches."
